The Campaign for Drawing: The Big Draw Celebrates 10 Years!

Ah, if only I could go underground next week and jump on the tube to central London. Starting October 1st, something huge and really special happens in the UK. It's called The Big Draw. Unfortunately I'll be working here at home on the central coast of California. But if you're an avid sketcher, and going to be in London during October, you'll want to check out the drawing events--over 1,000 of them--spread across the UK.

I've been following the Big Draw via the Internet for a few years. Now celebrating its 10th anniversary, this annual event keeps growing and adding exciting new events. Organized by the good folks at The Campaign for Drawing, The Big Draw takes place in galleries, museums, libraries, shopping centers, and school campuses all over the UK. Event participants are encouraged to experiment with pencils, paint, sand, digital imagery, vapor trails (that sounds very cool) and much more.

Since I'll have to be a no-show, I think I'll get my students together for our own Big Draw event here in Santa Cruz.
